Rama - Dr Frederick Lenz
Dr Frederick Lenz was an enlightened teacher who taught meditation and mindfullness from
the early 1970's until his death in 1998. During that time he taught a range of pathways
from yoga, mysticism, Taoism and Buddhism. In each practice he sought to find and transmit
the essence of the pathway so that his students could realize their own enlightenment in
this lifetime. Rama dedicated his life to the proposition that Westerners, in a modern
fast-paced society, can achieve spiritual enlightenment without religious ceremony.
Beginning in 1986 and extending until the end of
his life, Rama focused principly on Buddhism. He kicked off this period with a lavish advertising
campaign and seminars in major cities across the US. The advertising drew large crowds to his
seminars but it also created considerable criticism for his use of the term Zen Master
and his unorthodox methods. After about a year he ended the seminar series.
Self-Realization
is not about teachers and as such this site makes no excuses
for his methods. Self-Realization is about your personal practice.
This site offers you a taste of what we learned from Rama. If
you would like to learn more we suggest that you obtain a copy
of Rama's talks on Tantric Zen which have been republished by
the Frederick
Lenz Society for American Buddhism.
